Has it really been a year and a half? Boy do I need personal assistant or what , huh? well, let’s catch up shall we? We are not dead, or in a coma,  just very busy with everyday life. Just after the X-prise show I injured my shoulders in a motorcycle accident and have been through physical therapy and steriod shots to find out that only surgery will fix my problem. On the company side of things, the project is finally gaining momentum with the addition of Alex Tang and Ray Dillinger to our staff. Ray is one of the biggest technogeeks I know and will do well as the Director of Technology. Alex is a contract attorney and will be our compliance officer. His job will be to ensure that the project complies with all state and federal laws and guidelines as far as our non-profit status is concerned. Thanks to Alex, our incorporation and non-profit paperwork has now been handled and we are ready to begin member enrollment.

I never knew how much work this was going to be. You would be amazed at all the hoops you have to jump through to get something like this off the ground. For example, did you know no U.S. Citizen can buy or use any rocket design used by NASA in the last 50 years. Or that there is no way to buy one of the solid rocket boosters for the shuttle, but I can buy fuel for them all day long. How dumb is that? If I decide I want to use a 50 year old design for our engines, I still must get the approval of at least 5 government agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security. And even if I decide not to use american technology, as an American Citizen, I still most get government approval from like 11 agencies. Yet the United States is supposedly encouraging private space exploration. I don’t see how this is possible when they won’t even allow U.S. Citizens access to technology that the U.S. Taxpayer has paid for. Yet another example of Uncle Sam’s determination not to let the average person into space. With the extinction of the human race looming up in our distant future, one would think that they might be a little more forthcoming.
